BECOME A PART OF OUR FAMILY
Our worship life is rich and varied, with regularly scheduled Sunday service. The 9:00 a.m. service follows the traditional pattern of the Evangelical Lutheran Worship, accompanied by the organ and piano.
All are welcome in worship. Period. Undergirding this welcome are a variety of aids and experiences for every season of life. Parents (and grandparents, guardians, etc.) with young children have options: bringing your child to church with you, we have worship activity bags available; or leaving your child in the Nursery located in the sanctuary basement. If you choose to utilize the nursery, it is available immediately following the Gospel lesson.
For those with limited eyesight there are large print bulletins. Just ask one of the ushers.
YOUTH FOR CHRIST
Along with St. John Lutheran, six other community churches (First Baptist, St. John, Salem Lutheran, First Brethren, Community Christian, and Church of the Brethren) have partnered with Campus Life to begin a community youth ministry in West Alexandria. The early plans are that this ministry will again be active at Twin Valley South schools with our campus life program, but will now offer a weekly youth service at one of the churches stated above. The evening begins at 6:45pm with a meal, followed by a Game Changer activity, with the evening ending at 8:15pm. All youth in grades 7-12 are welcome! Click here for the November schedule.
We offer Sunday School for children ages 3 years through high school following our worship service in the Parish Hall. Our elementary age kids follow the Bible in Life curriculum which focuses on four basic goals: connect, teach, apply, motivate. No matter where students are in their walk with Jesus, Bible-in-Life communicates the gospel with life-changing clarity and motivates them toward life application.
Adult Sunday School
The Youth Class (grades 9-12) has recently joined the adult class. With many breaks for some side lessons--Christmas, Easter, some Louie Giglio—they are continuing their curriculum by Chip Ingram, "Why I Believe".
Adult Bible Study
Sunday evenings at 6:00PM, the group gathers in the Parish Hall. They pick a book of the Bible for analyzing and in depth discussion. You are welcome to join!
OTHER SPECIAL SERVICES
We also have midweek service during Lent including an Ash Wednesday service.
During the summer months, we try to worship outdoors once a month in our picnic shelter which was built in 2012.
