WACOCA
West Alexandria Churches Organized for Community Action

WACOCA consists of seven churches in the West Alexandria area. Their main purpose is to provide assistance to transients in the way of a meal or a night’s lodging.  In addition, a system is in place to help provide those in need with fuel costs and to determine who has received financial assistance from other WACOCA churches.  The treasurer of WACOCA administers those funds and reports are given to the steering committee every two months.  Lives are touched by these simple acts of charity.

WACOCA sponsors three community events during the year with a rotating schedule for the host churches for two of the events, the Thanksgiving Service in November) and the Hymn Sing in February. The July Community Service is always held at Peace Park, next to Salem, on the first Sunday before the July 4th holiday.
